Now most of you I’m sure has heard of WWF wrestling champ Hulk Hogan, probably the biggest name in wrestling so far. Few achieved what he achieved and he can kind of take the credit for transforming the WWF from a local attraction up east to the world wide phenomenon it has become. With that said I’m certain too a lot of you know about the Hulkster’s little girl, Brooke and how he has done all he could to shamelessly promote her. Yeah, when he hosted that flash in the pan ‘The New Gladiators’ I thought it was kind of hoky too him showing her video there. A lot of people booed and I turned off the set. I mean, I always thought Brooke Hogan was extremely cute, hell very attractive, but I didn’t want to hear her sing. So I turned the tv back on after she was gone off to finish watching the program.

About a month later I was browsing through the CD shop and I ran across a copy of Brooke Hogan’s CD ‘Undiscovered.’ I started to put it down because here was the Hulkster’s little girl again in a shameless bid for self-promotion for I figured her dad’s money was the only thing that got this CD in the shop, and also the cost was $20 and man I NEVER spend that much on a CD. Hell, I’ll download the song off the computer onto my ipod before I pay that much for even a Chris Brown CD and I love his music. Now I don’t know if there was something in the air or my girlfriend at the did something to make me feel really good or what, but I actually dug in my pocket and shelled out the twenty clams just knowing I was gonna’ regret this. I didn’t. I popped this CD in the player and lo and behold out came the most beautiful voice with enough soul in it to satisfy a James Brown fanatic! I mean, the girl could sing! The first song ‘About Us’ a duet with rapper Paul Wall is slammin’! I mean that joint should be bumpin’ in every club in America that calls itself a club! And I mean her pitch perfect vocals just do it for me because as a musician myself I’m very discriminating about every aspect of a song; tempo, arrangement, pitch, pacing, whether it’s to long or to short I hear each little detail and this song was as close to perfect as a human-being could get! Then the next song, the reggae flavored ‘Heaven Baby’ with Beenie Man shows that the girl has versatility. That song rocked too and I mean I’d be surprised if they’re not shakin’ it down in some reggae club in Jamaica. It was that good. The rest of the songs were really good to but the other standouts; ‘All About Me’, ‘My Number’ with rapper stack$, and the reggaeton flavored ‘Dance Alone’ w/nox, really kept this record rockin’! After listening to eleven of the fourteen songs, I couldn’t understand why this girl’s record wasn’t riding up the charts! I couldn’t understand why she doesn’t have a record deal coz’ her stuff sounds AS good and in a lot of cases BETTER than some of the stuff from the current milieu of artists out there. I mean she dusts Britney, is equal to Christina, and could hold her own against Mariah yet she’s still scuffling for her place on the charts. I think a lot of it has to do with some jealousy because she’s sexy, beautiful, and talented (she can play most any instrument) and her dad is rich and famous himself. I’m not the one to cry foul for the privileged but in this case Brooke isn’t being given a fair chance! And no I don’t know her have never met her and have nothing to gain from per se ‘promoting’ her. I’m just a lover of good music and I will share my love in articles that will be forthcoming. But I believe in her and I honestly feel if one would just forget for a moment this was Brooke Hogan, sit back and pop the CD in your deck, and listen to the music objectively it will sell itself! I was a skeptic just like everyone else (another rich girl with a famous dad trying to sing) but now I’m a true believer. Get the CD and see for yourself.
